Rivera, Bolivar & Castañedas is a firm comprised of some 20 lawyers with both regional and international experience offering quality legal services to major corporate firms.

The Challenge

The firm was outgrowing their current accounting platform and therefore needed to search for a new solution that addressed both their immediate growth and the need for integration-capable computing. The need to do more than just address basic needs but also prepare for future growth was a significant reason in seeking a new system. The Business challenge was to ensure the proper management of the clients and the consulting hours of each lawyer. The firm needed to assure control over the complete litigation process in order to guarantee proper billing of both time and expenses incurred in litigating each case. Previous to NetSuite, these processes were being handled manually through various autonomous systems that were both expensive and time consuming.

The Solution

Our response to the needs of the firm was to implement a solution that would integrate time registration and all costs incurred in litigation directly with accounting. Each case is now managed as a project where the associated hours in relation to the activity of the lawyer(s) involved in the case and all costs involved with the litigation of the case are invoiced. The progress and advancement of each case is also linked to its respective litigation process. This centralization of both data and business processes facilitates the proper and effective billing cycle for all time and services rendered by each lawyer for each case.

The Results

With the above solution, Rivera, Bolivar & Castañedas was able to integrate the previously segmented business processes of Accounting and Time & Expenses directly impacting the administration of the firm more efficiently. NetSuite, with its multi-dimensional flexibility, was able to streamline the firm’s chart of accounts, increase its ability to process information and decrease time invested in billing purposes by centralizing its data.
